GE Oil & Gas
CONTENT MIGRATIONS
WHEN GE OIL & GAS…
…purchased Baker Hughes, their new website needed to merge content from several different product companies into one clear, coherent navigation system. Kevin oversaw this content migration (and a second migration for another BHGE brand) while employed as a Digital Producer at Small Army, and has since then facilitated numerous migration exercises in tandem with the Small Army team for GE and Baker Hughes. Utilizing GatherContent, Rally, and a group of freelance content managers, Kevin led the team in the migration of thousands of product and services pages’ copy, images, and downloadable assets.
CONTENT WAS DIVIDED…
…into buckets based on the products’ presence in the oil and gas lifecycle - upstream, midstream, and downstream for example. Once categorized, higher level product category pages with short, general content were used as “parents” that link down to the individual products, or “children”, which contained more detailed, long-form content.
