For over 25 years, Kent Island Jewelry has served a growing family of customers across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the mid-Atlantic at large. This loyalty stems not just from the quality and artistry of their wares, but from a true commitment to service and customer satisfaction.
As their digital production partner, it was our pleasure to produce a website that captures the spirit and elegance of their brand while providing a modern user experience that drives sales and customer connection with the store.
OUR PROCESS
⚡︎ Discovery
We began with a discovery period to get better acquainted with Kent Island Jewelry’s goals for the website and the pain points of their previous ecosystem. Conversations and competitive research emphasized the importance of adding direct purchasing functionality to the site, and consolidating the visual expression of the brand to better match the in-store experience.
⚡︎ UX/IA
UX Design took shape with wireframes. These diagrams allowed us to lay the foundations of site function and content before applying a design layer. From the IA perspective, we drafted a new sitemap with optimized pathways for users to get to know the KIJ team, their in-store services, and, most importantly, browse their beautiful collections of jewelry.
⚡︎ Design
Beginning with a Shopify template, we modified and enhanced existing blocks and modules to give KIJ the content flexibility they required. In addition to function, the design phase gave particular attention to the KIJ brand as a whole. We worked with KIJ to establish a new brand kit of colors, fonts, logos, and decorative elements that can be used across their online footprint.
⚡︎ Development
Built directly in Shopify, our team modified the chosen template and applied brand styles to the editing system. In addition to template construction, our team worked with KIJ to identify and implement external tools to further improve the customer experience, such as a custom ring designer and appointment scheduling system.
⚡︎ Content
In addition to static page creation, our team helped with the creation and population of product details. Establishing the right properties and taxonomies for each product type, customers can now sort through the site’s collections and efficiently find what they’re looking for.
⚡︎ Launch
Our team worked with KIJ to launch the site in March 2026. Following launch, our team remained on stand-by for any immediate adjustments as part of our 30-day launch support coverage. To wrap our engagement, formal training sessions were held to ensure a smooth handoff of the property.
