
SOTHEBY’S AR APP
WHEN SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY…
…needed to showcase the beauty and history of a storied property at an annual event in Las Vegas, they looked to augmented reality (AR) for the answer. Kevin served as a Digital Producer for this project while employed at VIVA Creative, working with the creative team, developers, and his partner to bring this property’s past to life and create a memorable experience for attendees. The custom mobile app featured an AR marker-based scavenger hunt for attendees to enjoy between sessions, and an AR second-screen experience that enhanced the property’s promotional video during the keynote session.
THE SECOND-SCREEN EXPERIENCE…
…featured famous guests and images of the property overlaid on top of the modern location. While a marker-based trigger was used to generate the graphics on users’ devices, there was concern of certain seats not being able to lock onto the markers correctly. To combat this, the team developed a method of triggering the AR in perfect sync with the video via timecode.
THE SCAVENGER HUNT…
…utilized Vuforia and its marker-based AR software to give guests a sneak peek of event speakers and Vegas-themed graphics. The markers were hidden around the venue, and the custom app housing both experiences kept track of which markers had been collected and viewed.
